FAQs

I need to repair my laptop/computer/MacBook ASAP. Can you help?
Yes, we can certainly help you with that. We charge extra for emergency repairs, and we’ll be able to skip the queue for you, however it is highly unlikely that we’ll be able to repair it straight away, because in most cases we need to order the parts first. Please refer to our repair services page for what to expect.
Is it worth repairing my computer?
In most cases – YES but depending on the make or model of your computer and what you’re using it for. For example, if the computer is up to five years old (like in most cases), we would recommend repairing it. If your computer is older than five years it would be your choice, as if you need a more powerful machine, we recommend buying a new one. If you are happy with the performance or want to upgrade your existing machine, along with the repairs, it would be cheaper than getting a new machine.
How long will it take to repair my machine?
On average it takes from 7-14 days, however if we need to order the parts from abroad, it might take significantly longer, we will let you know before we order any price.
Do I know how much I need to pay before you start any repairs?
We will inspect your laptop within 48 hours and will get in touch with you with an estimate.
I have important data on my computer which is no longer working, can you recover all my files?
Yes, but you need to let us know about it in advance. We will do our best to recover all your files.
My screen is broken. Can you replace just the screen?
Yes, we can replace the screen damage, the screen replacement usually takes about 7-14 days on average to replace, and the cost would depend on your make/model, but usually it’s about £250 including parts and labour for most laptops, apart from gaming, large screen size (over 15 inch) and MacBooks. Usually, we would recommend an upgrade for your machine during the repairs, because we have to disassemble the machine anyway, it will be cheaper for you as we have to spend less time doing the upgrades. It’s important to note that we would only recommend fitting faster up to date parts, instead of the original ones, for example we do not recommend replacing the hard drive with the factory ones, because they’re slow and outdated, instead we would not only repair your machine, but upgrade it at the same time. For most machines we would recommend upgrading your RAM and the hard drive, if it’s a gaming computer we would also recommend replacing the graphics card and/or the CPU.
Do you repair the water damaged computers?
Yes, we repair water damaged computers, laptops and MacBooks. The average cost of the water damage repairs is about £300, depending on the make/model, it takes on average about 14 days to repair the water damaged machine.
What do I do if I spilled some water on my MacBook or Laptop?
We would recommend turning it upside down as fast as possible and switching off the machine by holding the power button for at least 60 seconds. Also, remove the battery if possible. We would recommend bringing the machine for inspection before you power it up, as more damage can occur if you power it up with some traces of water inside the machine, especially if it’s a brand-new machine.
My laptop makes a strange noise. Can you fix it?
Yes, we can. Usually it’s because of the overheating or the hard drive failure, in both cases we would recommend bringing for repairs ASAP, before more damage occurs or data is lost.
My laptop takes too long to power up and boot into Windows or MacOS, can you fix it?

I have a virus on my machine, it’s acting strange, can you fix it?
Yes, we would recommend shutting down the machine and bringing it to us ASAP, before the virus caused any damage and you lost any data. We’re able to deal with any viruses. My machine is too slow, can you fix it for me? Yes, absolutely, a slow machine usually means it’s either too old and requires an upgrade or your machine has an overheating/failing storage drive. Either way it means that your machine has to be looked at before it’s too late, as overheating would result in the motherboard failure which will cost a lot more to repair and if the hard drive fails you will lose all your data.
My laptop is very slow during the hot weather. Is it something you can fix?
Yes, it means your laptop is overheating and we can certainly help you with that. Usually, the maintenance would sort it out.
I have a message saying the CPU fan failed during the power up, what do I do?

What is included in the upgrade?
1. Full maintenance which includes the cleaning and the thermal compound replacement + Thermal pads for the graphics cards. 2. Upgrade the device, improve the memory, replace the hard drive with a much faster SSD Drive. 3. Fresh Windows 10 installation (100% clean, no bloatware from Dell/HP/Lenovo/Toshiba/Acer etc) , optimisation for the best performance. 4. Installation of all the latest drivers + a good quality antivirus + firewall + password manager (included in the price). 5. Bios/Firmware updates for improved safety and performance.
What is included under the warranty?
The warranty includes both parts and labour. It’s a return to base warranty, so it’s important that you keep the original box and the packaging for the duration of the warranty. It is only valid if there were no modifications to the PC and no physical damage. We also require that it undergoes the full maintenance for the PC, which has to be done by iTFT Computers on an annual basis. At the additional charge of £120 per maintenance + call out fee (depending on your postcode). The maintenance would include the full clean inside the PC, thermal compound replacement, driver updates, BIOS updates, security updates and all the health checks, if we will find out that any of the parts would have issues, we will repair it under the warranty, for example your storage drive can have issues and we’ll be able to save all your data/clone the drive, before it fails, rather than replacing the storage drive AFTER it fails. We use engineering software which gives us full diagnosis, so we would know of any possible issues with the PC, before the actual failure. Overheating is another issue, which can be prevented while the PC is fully operational yet would result in motherboard/CPU/GPU failure if neglected, as well as reduced performance.
How are you able to offer 3-5 years of warranty if the Main Street shops offer just 1 year?
We only use high-quality parts, we know which parts are reliable and which are not, as we also repair computers. Our computers are hand built in the UK and it makes a huge difference compared to factory-builds in China.
Would your computer be plug and play or do I need to register any accounts and set the Windows?
Your computer will be fully setup and configured for the best performance, you don’t need to register any accounts unless you want to. Windows will be fully installed and updated.
My manual for my PC/laptop from Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Apple etc doesn’t mention anything about maintenance.
Well, ask yourself a question, why would they offer just one year warranty and why would they care about the machine after 1 year? Quite the opposite, they want you to buy a new machine, so the more unreliable the machine the faster you’ll buy a new one. Around 15 years ago most laptops and computers were a lot more reliable than today, even more 25 years ago, they were even MORE reliable and used to be a lot more expensive.
